Review: Refined and nuanced Nutcracker perfect for these trying times

Alberta Ballet continued with its annual two-city performances of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, set to a refined and highly considered choreography by Edmund Stripe this past weekend. It was a nostalgic experience to be back once again for another year to see this handsome, historically infused Nutcracker, complete with a reproduction of Tchaikovsky’s drawing room for the Act I salon scenes and Russian street backdrop with an orthodox cathedral in the distance, familiar period art we have come to love and expect onstage over the past decade.
